Important Dates
- ENTRIES CLOSE: Wednesday, September 4, 2024.
- LATE ENTRIES CLOSE: Wednesday, September 11, 2024
- ENTRY TAGS READY FOR PICKUP: Friday, September 13, 2024.
- BRINGING EXHIBITS: Horticulture exhibits to be delivered to the Commonwell Exhibition Building on Tuesday, September 17, between 3:00 pm to 7:45 pm.
- JUDGING: Tuesday, September 17, at 8:00 pm.
- REMOVING EXHIBITS: Exhibits may be pickup on Monday, September 23, between 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. *Please note there will no longer be Sunday pickup. Perishable items not picked up on Monday will be discarded without notification to the exhibitor.
Important Notes
- Completed entry forms may be submitted by fax, phone, email, delivered in-person to the LEX office, or completed online at https://www.assistexpo.ca/lindsayex
- LATE FEE: $5.00 per entry.
- When making entries use 4 DIGITS - first 2 are DIVISION number & second 2 are CLASS number.
RULES & REGULATIONS
- ALL EXHIBITS MUST BE GROWN BY THE EXHIBITOR IN 2024.
- FEE: $10.00 Administration fee must accompany all entry forms.
- ENTRY DEADLINE: Entries must be received by end of day WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4, 2024 or they will be charged AN ADDITIONAL LATE FEE OF $5.00. ABSOLUTELY NO ENTRY FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2024.
- ENTRIES ALLOWED: Exhibitors may make “ONE ENTRY” only and receive “ONE PRIZE” only in each class.
- TAGS: Entry tags will be ready for pick up at the LEX office after 9:00 am Friday, September 13, 2024. Tags cannot be picked up at the time of bringing in entry form. LINDSAY EXHIBITION RESERVES THE RIGHT TO OPEN ALL ENTRY TAGS AFTER JUDGING HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
- TAGS: No altering of tags and no handwritten tags are not allowed.
- BRINGING EXHIBITS: Bring exhibits to the Commonwell Exhibition Building from 3:00 pm - 7:45 pm Tuesday, September 17, 2024. Each exhibit must be securely tagged and in place ready for judging by 7:45 p.m.
- REMOVING EXHIBITS: Exhibits may be picked up on Monday, September 23 from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm. *Please note there will no longer be Sunday pickup. Perishable items not picked up on Monday September 23, 2024, will be discarded without notification to the exhibitor.
- EXHIBITS: No Exhibits will be given a prize unless deemed worthy by the judge. (Any competitor wishing to renew a portion of his or her exhibit because of wilting may do so after the day of judging but must keep to the original variety).
- EXHIBITS: Exhibits are to be placed in sufficiently wide-bottomed containers to prevent tipping when handled by the Judge or Committee.
- DEFINITION OF DESIGN: An exhibit of flowers (or a composite exhibit) covering a definite number of specimens, or given area, arranged to create a pleasing effect. A display is to be judged both for the quality of the material used and for the artistry of the result. This term should be used rather than “Collection” if artistic effect is to be stressed.
- ALL GENERAL RULES of the Society which are applicable will apply.
- JUDGES: Judges will use the Ontario Judging Exhibiting Standards as their guide.
- PRIZE MONEY: Prize money won will be paid by cheque and mailed in October. Cheques MUST be cashed by April 1st, 2025.
Plants
PLANTS - DIVISION 78
PLEASE NOTE: Plants to be exhibited in pots. Cleanliness of pots will be considered in judging. The exhibitor must have grown all exhibits in the following classes for at least the past 3 months.
Prizes: $5 - $4 - $3
Classes:
1. | Tuberous Begonia - Submit 1 specimen. |
2. | Flowering Begonia - Submit 1 plant, fibrous. |
3. | Coleus - Not over 60 cm high including pot. |
4. | Geranium - Submit 1 plant, in bloom, single flowered (5 petals). |
5. | Geranium - Submit 1 plant, double or semi-double. |
6. | Geranium - Submit 1 plant, scented. |
7. | African Violet - Single crown. |
8. | African Violet - Double or semi-double, single crown (anything over 5 petals). |
9. | African Violet - Submit 1 plant, with trailers. |
10. | Miniature African Violet - Submit 1 plant. |
NOTE: For protection, AFRICAN VIOLETS will be displayed in glass cases.
11. | Open Class - any other flowering plant in bloom - Submit 1 plant. |
12. | Open Class - any other non-flowering plant, other than coleus - Submit 1 plant. |
13. | Cacti or Succulent or Exotic - Submit 1 plant. |
14. | Fern in a Pot - Ready for hanging. |
Cut Flowers
CUT FLOWERS - DIVISION 79
PLEASE NOTE: The exhibitor must grow all exhibits under this section. Each entry must have the number of blooms called for; otherwise exhibits will be disqualified. A bud showing colour is considered a bloom. All stalks must be cut above the ground. No foliage allowed except that which is adhered to stems. All exhibits in the following classes are to be exhibited in one container. Multiple stems or blooms are to be exhibited in a clear vase.

20. | Single Dahlias Single Dahlia Definition - a flower with a single row of flat or slightly cupped pedals. |
21. | Pompon Dahlias Pompon Dahlia Definition - Small, globe-shaped flowers with petals that are blunt or slighty rounded at the tip. |
